Before Christmas, I was doing some thrift store shopping, as I explained HERE. I found a big stack of children’s albums – what a treasure trove! I found all kinds of albums I remember from my childhood. Most of the albums were scratched; however, I thought the album covers would make great art for my kids’ playroom…

This is a super-easy project and super-affordable! The albums only cost me 77 cents each, less 50% because they were the “color of the day” at Goodwill!
Here are the albums I picked, based on what my kids love and what I loved from my childhood:

I used frames from IKEA that I already had, but wasn’t using:

I lined up the albums on the matte and taped them to the matte with thick tape. I did this so that the album wouldn’t move around in the frame. Make sure you tape the side with the album opening, so it lies flat.

And voila! The Three Little Pigs get framed! (Get it? Home decor humor…ha ha!)

Ready to be hung in our playroom…

Of course, I was going to show you the albums all hung up…problem is, the playroom really needs painting. You know, one DIY project begets another. I’ll post the finished, hanging product when I’ve painted that wall (trust me – it doesn’t look good now!).
So, for about $2.00 plus frames I already had and a little elbow grease, I have cool, colorful, kid-friendly art for our playroom.
