Block Party

March 6, 2014 By Karen Cooper 16 Comments

I am a block party animal! No, it’s not what you think.

Yesterday, I had a bit of time before picking up the kids at school, so I went in a local antiques shop.

I love typography, and  have always wanted to get some wooden printers’ blocks. It just so happened that this antiques shop had a booth selling them! I found the initials for the (human, not dog) members of our family. (Sorry, pups, but they didn’t have a B or an H!)

They are now on our mantel. I’m thinking I need a frame or something for them.

Or maybe I should move them to the built-in bookcases instead. They seem too small here. But I love them and like seeing them every time I walk in the living room.

I love the different shapes of the letters and the age on the wooden blocks.

I’m a letters and numbers geek!

Tomorrow, I paint! What are you up to? Any good finds at a thrift store or antique store lately? Do tell!

Thanks for stopping by,

Nice. What d’ya think they’d look like … mounted on a piece of rough wood that you touched up in a favorite color? I always like letters and numbers. Fun find!

Right – I was thinking about putting them on a piece of reclaimed wood just to give them a frame or base. Thanks!

Karen, these are so cool! I agree with Heather, they would look really great mounted. Like all of us, I can get into SO much trouble in the antique and thrift stores – but I’m hoping once the weather breaks, I can do a little scouring. Thanks for sharing these and have a happy Friday!

Thanks, Cindy! Yes – I can get in so much trouble in thrift and antique stores! It’s way too much fun to find such treasures.

That’s pretty cool, Karen. I love them. Now you must go find a B & H! I need to get my butt in an antique store. Want to come?
