Creating Fall Warmth in my Dining Room

September 26, 2013 By Karen Cooper 25 Comments

It’s that time of year…time for the days to get shorter and cooler and the leaves to fall.

Do you decorate your home for fall? Well, I was lucky this year. Coupons.com gave me a $100 gift card to Sears, along with a bunch of coupon codes for Sears, to transition one room in my home from summer to fall.

I chose my dining room.

As a reminder, after many transformations, this is what my dining room looked like in spring and summer:

I love my dining room, but I wanted to warm it up a bit for fall – add some fall colors, heavier curtains, table linens…the works! But I only had $100 to spend…

Want to see the transformation?

I love teal, and I love pairing it with warmer fall colors. These dishes were the perfect color atop my homemade table runners.

The set came with place-settings for four, including coffee mugs, perfect for apple cider.

Oh, you like the cider dispenser? I got that at Sears, too!

I love my curtains, but they needed some heft and color for fall.

For $9.98 each, I got both color and heft, and I love the way the color coordinates with the table linens.

So, I have the decor all taken care of…now we need some food, right?

This orange enameled cast iron dutch oven seemed perfect for fall soups and stews.

I know you’re thinking, “Didn’t you only have $100 to spend?” Yes. But because of the coupons.com codes, I got 20% off one home decor item, and $5.00 off my total order. That meant I really had more than $100 to play with spend on transforming my dining room.

I added some of my own touches and some fall flowers and my dining room is now officially ready for fall.

Come on over for some cider and pumpkin pie anytime!

Coupons.com provided me with a $100 e-gift card to Sears. The opinions expressed here are all my own.

Do you buy or make your own panel curtains? I would like to try making some no sew panels for our living room and have a big curtain rod up but so far no curtains 😛 I’m new to any of this do it yourself stuff, but in the past few months have already done and learned so much. I’m enjoying making our house truly OURS 🙂

Hi Cindy, I bought the gold faux silk ones, and, for the white ones with script, I bought the panels at Ikea and then wrote on them with a sharpie pen. The post where I created them is here.
I’m so glad you are DIYing! It’s so fun to have something you made make your home truly yours. I love it! Keep going!

Holy moly, girl! You hit this one outta the ball park! I’m kinda in disbelief at what you came up with using just a $100 gift card and coupon codes. And I’d never consider a blue as a fall color but the one you chose is so earthy and plays off all your other fall colors so well. Amazeballs!

Woah! Your space is so warm and cozy…I can almost smell the spiced cider through the screen! And I love that you were able to order online FROM the store, so you could still use your Coupons.com code. Genius, I tell you! Lovely job.

The curtains are the first thing I noticed! As I bet they are when someone actually walks in the room:-)
What a beautiful transition from Spring photos to Autumn!! I am so impressed! And here I was, ready to say, “Why yes, I decorate for Fall!” What I do, doesn’t compare to your details…and even if I *did* have the Sears shopping trip, I probably would have spent it on things like vacuum bags and patio furniture! haha!!
    Beautifully done!

Thanks, Sharon! I don’t usually go “all out” like this, but it was fun when coupons.com gave us the gift card to Sears to totally glam it up! I hope you entered to win the gift card. Maybe, if you win, the vacuum bags could wait in lieu of some home stuff, like curtains?!? (Or, you get a WHOLE LOT of vacuum bags!) Thanks again!
