I know I’m a little late posting again tonight, but we’ve had a day filled with family and kids and pie, so I’m just now getting a quiet moment. I got my laugh of the day from my brother, so it only seems appropriate that today I tell you about how I am grateful for my brother, Todd.
Now, I was not always so grateful for this guy. He was a pain in my tuchas (that’s “tush,” for you non-Yiddush speakers) when we were kids. He was the pesky little brother (he’s three and a half years younger than I am, although he treats me like a little sister because I’m shorter). He cheated when we played games. I screamed when he set one toe in my room. C’mon…he deserved it, right?
But then we both got older and wiser. We bonded. Usually after midnight while laughing hysterically. We got each other through our father’s death and we became the best of friends.
When I need a pep talk, I go to Todd, and he has one at the ready. He knows more movie quotes than any six people I know. He thinks there is nothing he cannot do. And I almost believe him (except that he will never become a professional hockey player).
He has endured many tough moments in his life with grace and humor. He is one of the strongest people I know, and yet I know he’s a softie at heart. He is loyal, unwavering, kind, and one of the most thoughtful people I have ever met. And, although I hate to admit it, he is darn funny (cute and funny).
I am so grateful for my brother. I know that I got through many hard times in my life because of him.
Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Almost Thanksgiving!
