Celebrating Earth Day with Repurposing Projects

April 19, 2016 By Karen Cooper Leave a Comment

Earth Day is coming up soon (although, really, isn’t every day Earth Day?)! I love a good celebration of recycling, upcycling, and repurposing to save our planet!

email about my love of recycling - thediybungalow.com

Remember this? From my IKEA Hack Trash and Recycling Center project.

In celebration of Earth Day, today and all week, I’m sharing my favorite DIY repurposing and upcycling projects.

I turned an old tripod into a floor lamp – and it looks a lot like one you can buy at Pottery Barn for $400+ more!

It's easy to make a tripod lamp. Here's how to make one from a surveyors tripod found at a thrift store! / thediybungalow.com

For the sports fan in your life, turn an old gym floor (or any old wood) into a headboard!

Old chairs’ fabric got you down? Here’s how to reupholster parsons chairs! Did I mention you don’t need to sew to do this?!?

Can’t find a daybed you love or it’s too expensive? I had that problem, so I made a daybed out of old doors:

This is the project that landed me in This Old House Magazine!

You can find extra cabinet doors at thrift stores and Habitat for Humanity ReStores for super-cheap! Grab one and turn the cabinet door into a memo board like this:
