Holiday at HQ

December 11, 2013 By Karen Cooper 19 Comments

Happy Holidays, all! Grab a cup of cocoa and join me for this year’s holiday home tour of Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza HQ.

tree and couch - 2013 holiday - Dogs Don't Eat Pizza

We always start our decorating with the tree.

Garland and fun ornaments adorn our tree, and my daughter was in charge this year (well, she put herself in charge).

We have pictures of the kids from each year, plus homemade ornaments, dog ornaments, and, of course, ornaments for our favorite teams.

Did I mention that I rearranged the entire living room just so the dogs wouldn’t knock over the tree when they ran to the front window? True story.

After we tackle the tree, we decorate the rest of the living room.

I used some of the free trimmings I got to make the white vases festive.

The table is now by the fireplace so that the dogs have room to bark at the window. Seriously. The things I do for those sweet babies.

I decided this year to put our stockings on the banister, rather than the mantel. That way, when we have a fire in the fireplace, we (well, I) don’t have to move the stockings.

I made the bows out of burlap garland and gold wired ribbon – a little rustic, a little bling.

Under our rake that holds this year’s cards are our snowmen, strangely near the fireplace.

These guys came from Second Life Thrift – about $8 and all I needed to do was tighten the screws.

Can’t forget the Christmas apples.

And angels are on the ladder.

In the dining room, I added a little more bling to our chandelier.

These ornaments came from the Ikea as-is room – the whole bag was $5. I only used about half the bag here.

Everything looks so warm and cozy. I am in love with the ornaments hanging from the chandelier. And I know it’s temporary, but the table and chairs are very inviting in front of the fire place.

Thanks, Sharon! My son said he really prefers this set-up in our living room. He likes building LEGOs on the table in front of the fire. So, it might just stay this way!

Love the tree done in family style using ornaments that have meaning for your family. We actually have a small tree for our son’s BAMA ornaments. He has around 40 of them since we started a tradition of getting him an ornament each year. Some years we just couldn’t decide so he got more than one.

What a great tradition! We also have an ornament with Big Al tackling the Auburn tiger. 🙂 It’s fun to have ornaments that represent what everyone loves.

Your decorations look so pretty! I liked the stockings on the stairway versus the mantle – they look great there!

Thanks, Heather! So much easier than putting them on the mantel and taking them down when we have a fire in the fireplace!
