Hope in a Paint Can

May 10, 2015 By Karen Cooper 4 Comments

You can find encouragement in the darnedest places. Today, I found hope in a paint can.

Lately, a lot of not-so-great stuff has been going on (I wrote about it HERE). Plus, on Thursday, I was bitten by something (I think a spider or three) and had an allergic reaction, which isn’t pretty (just ask Julie & Lesley, my sweet friends who took care of me at a conference the last time it happened). Then I got my first ever ticket. First. Ever. Sigh.

Today, Dear Husband took the kiddos to the movies and I decided it was FINALLY time to finish the laundry room. It’s been in this state since before Hank had his surgery:

I’m so close to being done! Just had to finish painting the trim and doors. So, I decided to do that while the rest of the fam went to the movies.

The paint wasn’t covering well. There were drips. I was starting to get grumbly. And then it happened.

The paint can tipped over.

You know how, in movies, the bad thing happens in super slo mo with the character it’s happening to screaming “Noooooooooo” in super duper slo mo? That’s what happened. But then, a miracle…

I caught the can!

I did. I caught it. I had cat-like reflexes!

Only two globs of paint fell on the floor, and they landed on the dropcloth! That’s when I knew.

Things are looking up. Starting now.

If you need some hope, if you need some encouragement – and I did – it’s there. In something as simple as a can of paint.  It will appear to you and you will go, “AHA! There it is!” And then it’ll get better.

With hope,

Ya know, sometimes that, “there it is!” Is that little thing I call divine! It’s seems that like all things with God, timing is always perfect. Now you may not agree and that is ok to.
It sounds like you were needing EXACTLY what you received, a “There it is!” Moment. You my friend have been blessed!
How is the Hank Man feeling today? I hope and pray he and the whole family are happy and healthy.

Ya never know, right?! Last week was having computer problems so had to have our tech come out … $$ … and it’s a very short $$ month. WELL, he fixed things and ALSO told us a great way to go to get our internet faster and cheaper … A LOT CHEAPER. We should be set up by tomorrow. So a kind of bad thing turned into two good things, and will save us money! Being retired, that really makes a big difference!
Hey, make sure that bite was a spider and not a tick. It’s Lyme season, and from experience, I know you don’t want that! Get it checked out just in case.

That’s great re your computer! It’s not a tick bite. There are three bites kind of in a line – ticks don’t bite that way, plus they don’t look like tick bites. They are either stings or spider bites and I have had allergic reactions like this before. I did go to the urgent care clinic and they put me on prednisone for the reaction. Thank you for your concern!! 🙂
