Happy New Year, friends! I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday season!
As you can see, things look a little different around here! I decided that, after three years (!!), it was time for a new look. My goals for this new design were: (1) have a cleaner, more-white-space look; (2) make it easier to find projects and ideas; and (3) make sure the site is easy to navigate and read.
Number 2 on that list was a big thing for me. So, the site has a few new features I’d love for you to check out:
(1) The Project Index: Click on “Project Index” in the menu above and you will find my projects organized by category, such as DIY, paint, space-planning, etc. Just click on the thumbnail and you’ll find the post.
The Project Index is not only broken down by category, but is searchable by date, category, or search term. These search features are at the top of the Project Index page.
(2) Social Media: The paw print buttons are still there to take you to DDEP on social media channels. But you can also scroll down to the footer and find what I’ve been posting on social media. Those features in the footer also link to the social media sites, you can follow me easily!
(3) Cleaner-looking Home Page: My home page will now feature my most recent post first, then have the next most recent posts below it in a grid pattern. I hope this will make it easier for you to find recent posts. You can also search for posts in the sidebar.
The fabulous Janel of Nellie Bellie designed the header – it was like she read my mind as to exactly how I wanted it to look. Many thanks to her!
I hope you’ll stick around for a bit and see all the new features. I’d love to know what you think!
Now, it’s time for my Word of the Year. I know this is a thing lots of folks are doing now – #oneword, #onelittleword, #WOTY, etc. I did this last year (confidence), the year before (brave), and the year before that (evenings).
Like last year, I asked my daughter what she thought my Word of the Year should be. (She’s a trusted advisor and did a bang-up job last year!) What she said kind of surprised me. She said, “Mom, how about ‘faith’?”
I asked her why she had chosen that word. She first said, “I dunno,” and then thought for a minute and said, “Because you always believe you can do things.”
(Heart melts.)
I pondered this word. I like this word. But I’m going to add one more word to the mix, too:
Focus.
Why? Because I have faith – in myself, in my ability, in my family, in my spiritual life. But one thing I definitely need to work on is focus.
You know that book, If You Give a Moose a Muffin? It starts with giving a moose a muffin, and then he’ll want jam…and the next thing you know you’re painting scenery for a puppet show in your living room.
Well, I tend to operate that way. See this post about how I started cleaning my kids’ bathroom and ended up tiling it.
So this year, I’m going to work on FAITH and FOCUS. Focus on projects, with the faith that I can do whatever I set my mind to.
Do you have a word of the year? If so, I’d love to hear it!
As always, thank you for stopping by. It’s going to be an amazing 2015!
Looking good!
Thank you so much!!
