I’m Not the Jute Rug Type

July 23, 2014 By Karen Cooper 63 Comments

“Always had a roof above me
Always paid the rent
But I’ve never set foot inside a tent
Can’t build a fire to save my life
I lied about being the outdoor type.”
– The Outdoor Type, by the Lemonheads

(If you have never heard of the Lemonheads, run, don’t walk, to iTunes or (if you kick it old school) a record store and find some of their music. They are awesome and, every time I hear a good song, it turns out they sang it.)

I have had this song in my head ever since Hank Dog decided to throw up on the jute rug. Twice. I’m just not the jute rug type, I’m afraid.

jute-rug - Dogs-Don't-Eat-Pizza

Don’t get me wrong: I love jute rugs. I love this jute rug a lot. But with two kids and two dogs (one of whom has a very sensitive tummy), it’s just not the best thing to put in our living room.

So the wonderful friends at Mohawk came to my rescue! Now, my living room has this rug:

new-mohawk-rug-Hampton - Dogs-Don't-Eat-Pizza

As you can see, Hank loves it.

It’s incredibly soft and comfy underfoot. It’s stain resistant (do you hear the angels singing here?) so it’s easy to clean.

both-dogs-love-new-Mohawk-rug - Dogs-Don't-Eat-Pizza

And that is a good thing, given that the dogs love lounging on it!

I love the pattern of the Hampton rug and the color is neutral without being brown. I love it!

Guess what?!? The lovely folks at Mohawk want to give you a rug, too! I’m hosting a giveaway and you could win one Mohawk Home rug up to size 5 x 8 and under $150! [Giveaway has ended.]

I love the look of our new rug and can’t wait to see it in our new house!

I get the pets and a rug thing! I like the jute too… but ya gotta have washable in our house as well. Love the new one, it sure is a pretty pattern! I’d get a new rug for the sun room if I won 🙂 Just in time for Fall and Winter. Brr. It gets cold on the toes in there.

I feel your pain, I have 3 dogs and whenever they throw-up that actually walk away from the tile floors towards the rugs, not sure why but it happens every time. I could defiantly use a new rug in our spare bedroom, one that was stain resistant would be a definite plus! =)
