Right on Red

February 4, 2014 By Karen Cooper Leave a Comment

Time for the breakfast room reveal! I asked you in this Finish It Friday post whether I should go with the red color scheme in our breakfast room:

Or a black and white color scheme:

Of course, this all came about because of the new shed. (*Smacks head* – of course!) We can see the new shed in the breakfast room side window and I wanted to hide it. Coupled with my hatred and progressive banishment of all mini-blinds from our home, I decided I could make new shades with this funky fun fabric.

Well, I have to say that I love you, Dear Readers, but you weren’t really that helpful with my decision. Most of you said, quite diplomatically, that either was fine – you fence straddlers, you.

My son, always trying to help, told me he thought the black and white fabric was cool, but he liked the red better. There you have it. I went with that.

Red wins!

Please excuse the vinyl cover on the table. I was working on another project and, while the glue was drying, I decided to finish the breakfast room.  Because that’s how I roll.

And yes, the mini-blinds are still there. At least they hide the shed for now. The mini-blind banishment campaign will continue, though (insert evil laugh here).

Here’s a mini-blind-free picture of the finished room:

Thanks to Mohawk for the cool bone-shaped rug for muddy dog paws!

I know you are now scratching your head now and saying, “But Karen, wasn’t that rug in the living room before?”

You have such a good memory.

Now we only have the jute rug in the living room. It’s a bit brown in here, but I’m ok with it for now. The red runner and brightly colored pillows liven up the room.

There you have it – breakfast room done. Another room crossed off the list.

Soon, I’m going to be posting about our big plan for moving bedrooms around, as I explained here. I’m a list-writer, so I’ll have plenty of plans to share with you.

Hope you all are staying warm and doing well. As always, thanks for stopping by!
