That’s What It’s All About

March 28, 2014 By Karen Cooper 1 Comment

Nope, not doing the hokey pokey on the blog today. (Sorry to disappoint!)

As you could probably tell from my post last week entitled “Living My Story,” I’m dealing with some personal stuff over here at Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza HQ. I’m at a professional crossroads right now.

On the one hand, I can keep teaching legal writing, something I’ve done for the last 12 years and poured my heart into during that time. On the other hand, I could do something else, totally different. And that would be fun but scary but interesting but scary. (That’s pretty much how my mind is working right now. In circles.)

A lot of my friends right now are coming to a similar fork in the proverbial road of life. Some are changing jobs, some are moving, some are doing both. The common denominator is that all are being true to their selves. All are trying to find happiness, in however that is defined or manifests itself.

So, on this Friday, I am pondering. I am also in the middle of painting a bar cart, and, when I finish, I will post the deets here (of course!). Until then, I’ll leave you with a thought, from my favoritest Far Side cartoon ever:

I gotta be me

Have a great day and a fabulous weekend! Love you all.

Karen, you have one life and so far, you seem to be doing a wonderful job with things … a good person, a wonderful wife, a great mom … with so many talents and abilities. Same is fine; it’s comfortable and proven. Change is always scary because somethings will be different. But look at your favorite cartoon … different looks pretty good there! Remember, one time around is all we get.
Picture your daughter in this situation and consider what you would advise her?
With any problem, I try not to stress too much, I just start something else; an arrangement, a drawing, anything. It’s amazing how many answers come when you’re working on a project and not worrying too much about that problem.
It’s very late and I didn’t mean to sound preachy. Sorry. When you need to know . . . you will. I’m sure of that.
