Thirty Days of Gratitude on Instagram

November 4, 2016 By Karen Cooper 3 Comments

So, remember that project you did when you thought you’d paint the walls AND trim AND retile the backsplash … and then you realized that just painting the room would do the trick?

Or when you found the perfect flea market/thrift store piece and were going to paint it, but ultimately decided the paint would just be too much?

Welp, I have.

And that’s how I’m feeling about the big Thirty Days of Gratitude Project.

I’m going to keep it real here: I feel overwhelmed right now. I had big plans to blog or post somewhere on social media every day for the 30 days of November about for what I am grateful.

I have done this each year since 2012, with varying success. Each year, I end up posting less and less to the blog and more and more on social media.

Why? Well, in some years, it’s because of personal reasons, like last year when M was being diagnosed with Crohn’s and Dear Husband’s Dad was sick.

But also, a lot goes into a blog post. I don’t just write something quickly and hit “publish.” This blog is my baby, so to speak, and I want good posts that reflect that care. Good photos, good writing, good editing, and, most of all, relevant, helpful content.

As time has worn on and my obligations – both to my business and my family – have grown, my ability to stay on top of 30 posts in a month has diminished.

I just can’t do it. I want to. But I can’t.

This is what I look like when I need more coffee. TheDIYBungalow.com

So, here’s what I’m going to do instead. I am going to do the Thirty Days of Gratitude Project, because I find it to be incredibly important and helpful and I love doing it. BUT…

It’s moving off the blog and onto Instagram. (<- that’s the link to my Instagram page)

Now, before you say, “But I am not on Instagram!” or “I hate Instagram,” let me reassure you: my Instagram account is linked to both my blog’s Facebook page and Twitter page.

I would love for you to follow me on Instagram and also participate in the Thirty Days of Gratitude Project. I’ll use the hashtag #thirtydaysofgratitude2016 for each post. Post each day what you are grateful for and use that hashtag so that we can follow each other’s posts, ‘mkay?

Today, while I’m here, I’ll tell you that I am grateful for good friends, especially my dear friend Amy, who called at precisely the right time today and gave me this great idea. You can find all kinds of amazing recipes, crafts, and DIY at her blog, Atta Girl Says!

I hope you all have a good, peaceful, fun weekend and enjoy the extra hour of sleep on Sunday!

Well, the Instragram doesn’t work for me, so guess I’ll be one less follower. Sorry, I was really looking forward to the 30 day gratitude posts. Maybe I’ll see them when you post 30 days from now.

Hooray for taking care of you and your family! Life is too short to add extra stress if it is not needed. Enjoy your month. 🙂
