Hello there! I’m still here! I’ve been knee deep in the Super Secret Design Project (still!) and my daughter’s birthday plans, so I’ve been quiet here. Since I actually have a little time to breathe and sit today, I thought I’d catch you up on what’s been going on.
The Super Secret Design Project is trucking along. This is where we were on the kitchen side of things as of Friday. Today, the countertop, sink, and faucet were installed and I built almost all of the rest of the drawers for the cabinets.
The room needed more storage, so I found this piece on Craig’s List for $175! What a find! So cool.
As part of this project, they are getting all new dishes and silverware. Since the color scheme is teal, red, and yellow, I thought these dishes were perfect! Plus they can go in the microwave – a necessity here.
Over the weekend, this little cutie turned eight! I can’t believe that. We had a fun time – swimming, then dinner and a slumber party! We’re all a little tired (understatement alert), but a fun time was had by all.
I’m excited that Habitat for Humanity International asked me to write a post for them about the class I taught at the Atlanta Habitat ReStore about breathing new life into old dining room chairs! The post appears on the Habitat International website HERE.
Last, but definitely not least, today at Mohawk’s Homescapes blog, I’m talking farmhouse style. If you love Chip and Jo, you are going to love this post about how to incorporate farmhouse style in your home. Click HERE for that post.
So that’s what’s been going on – a little of this and a little of that. This week, I’m going to finish the Super Secret Design Project, which means:
- Finish putting together the cabinets – doors, drawers, and hardware;
- Put together a “coffee bar”;
- Put the furniture back in the room;
- Style it all pretty!
- Finish doors for one of the cabinets I refurbished;
- Finish my memo board project – turning an old door into a memo center.
The last two things might end up getting done over the weekend, but they can be brought in to the room next week (since they are stand-alone pieces).
What are y’all up to? I hope everyone’s enjoying their summer!
