Wrapping up Thirty Days of Gratitude 2017

November 29, 2017 By Karen Cooper Leave a Comment

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! We hosted our family this year and had a blast! To wrap up this year’s Thirty Days of Gratitude, I’m going to start where I left off and go from there!

Day 18: Grateful that my daughter is healthy and played well in her soccer game! I’m so grateful for the doctors and medicine who keep her healthy and well, and that she’s growing and thriving. (If you are new or new-ish here, you can read this post about how my daughter has Crohn’s Disease.)

Day 19: Grateful for good friends, with whom we played the Annual Thanksgiving Kickball Game on this brisk morning! It was kids vs. parents, and the kids won, 16-14. We had hot chocolate, we ate doughnuts, and we laughed a lot! It was so fun.

Day 20: Grateful that my son played an awesome tennis match! It was the last match of a tournament and he beat a player he lost to last year. He has worked so hard and has really improved – I’m so proud of him!

Day 21: Grateful to be together with my family to celebrate the life of my father-in-law on the anniversary of his passing. We had chocolate cake, which was his favorite.

Day 22: Grateful that my son, who had his wisdom teeth out two weeks ago, got the all-clear from his dentist and is healing exactly as he should. So grateful that is behind us (but not as grateful as my son is)!

Day 23: It’s Thanksgiving! I’m so grateful for my family gathered around the table, the bounty on our table, the roof over our heads and the love inside this home.

Day 24: Grateful for my new washing machine! I took advantage of the Black Friday deals and replaced our stinky, loud front-loading washer with a new top-loader! I’m planning a post discussing this choice, FYI. I’ve never been so happy to do laundry. OK, that might be an overstatement. But I was really excited!

Day 25: Grateful for a day of football, fun, and family.

Day 26: Grateful for a fun day with my daughter while the boys went to see the Falcons win!

Day 27: Grateful for the resources and friends who share wisdom and experience so I can plan and host a beautiful bar mitzvah for my son in just a few months! I think, in my head, I had Thanksgiving as the official date after which I would start nailing down the details of this event (and maybe panicking a little), and I’m on it. Freaking out a little, but slowly getting it all planned!

Day 28: Grateful for my friends who motivate me to go on a long walk each Tuesday morning. It was cold, but good conversation keeps us going.

Day 29 & 30: My home and my town. I feel more at home in this house than I’ve ever felt anywhere else. To be sure, I know that 99% of that feeling comes from the nutty folks (and dogs) who live in this home and the neighbors and friends who surround us, but I love everything about this big, old, stinky home. I’m grateful that we get to live here, and I’m grateful for the skill, time, and resources to make it ours.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this year’s Thirty Days of Gratitude and you’ve reflected on for what you are grateful, too. Now that November is fading and December is almost here, I’ll be focusing again on DIY and home-related posts, including that post about choosing a washing machine; the laundry room reveal (if I can ever get it not to be covered in laundry!); holiday decorating; and more!
