A "recovering lawyer," I turned in my power suits for power tools and a life of DIY. I believe in merging old and new to make a house a home. Read More…
We have “rescued” all of our pets (except the birds). Each one has his/her own story of how they came to be “ours” and each holds their special place in our hearts. Crazily enough, we just found a stray this past Sunday who will be ours too, if no one claims him within ten days. He will lucky number 7… Most days, I just shake my head and wonder how it happened, but we are a bunch of suckers around here, so that explains a lot. 😛
I love it! My dogs knew I had “sucker” stamped on my forehead. But rescues add something special to your life.
We have Gracie Belle of the South and Beau (a rescue), both bassets but all of us Alabama fans have had a dog named Bear at one time or another 😉 Yours is beautiful! Tell your hubby and Bear I said RTR!
Oh, which also brings me to a shameless plug. I am going to do a football series for women in August in case you or others you know might be interested. Since you are a dog sucker like me you could read it to Bear so she understands why not to bother daddy when Bama is in the Red Zone 😉

I love it! Welcome! Glad to have another Bama fan in our midst! We ALL know why not to bother anyone in this family during a Bama game, for sure. So glad you stopped by! I can’t wait to catch up on your blog. Love the title!
This is so sweet. Thanks for putting in a good word for rescues. All my dogs have come from the pound, and they’ve all been great, some more work than others.
In October 2013 I adopted an 8 year old male chihuahua mix, who’s the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. He just wants to be loved and held. Training him on the piddle pads, however, has been challenging. Last August I lost my 14 year old half deaf, half blind Jack Russell mix that I’d had since he was 3. He was also from the pound. Still miss my Corky.
Awww. Thank you for sharing those stories! We’ve always had rescue dogs (and one rescue cat, who ended up at my neighbor’s because Dear Husband is allergic) and they’re the best. Bear – the dog who doesn’t eat pizza – is nearly 14 now and I can tell she’s getting older and half-deaf. It’s sad but they bring such joy.
Karen, you know how dog crazy we are. Our last four were all rescues of one type or another. Always love it when you feature your pups. Wow, 14 years is a wonderfully long life for Bear. Here’s wishes for a few more to add to the score!

Thank you! Yes, we feel tremendously blessed to have had a fabulous 14 years with her! Here’s to more! Thanks!!
