An Update on Elvis Parsley

June 15, 2016 By Karen Cooper 15 Comments

We adopted Elvis Parsley about seven months ago, so I thought I’d give you an update on how he’s doing and how he’s fitting in with our family.

We all agree: he’s doing wonderfully!

Hank loves his brother, Elvis Parsley.

Elvis was a stray when he was found by a local rescue group. They don’t know his story, but they think that he may have escaped from an abusive situation.

Elvis usually has his head on my leg while I work.

Because of that, it took him a while to get comfortable with us and the noises and bumps in our home.

Clearly he’s figured out that we love him and that he’s safe now. He knows he is home.

They think this is THEIR bed.

And, as Elvis has gotten more comfortable in our home and family, he’s turned into a bit of a devil. He’s broken out of our fence twice (yes, Elvis left the building), each time coming home a couple of hours later, wet and smelling like yuck.

Lately, his favorite thing to do is chase the squirrels, chipmunks, voles, and bunnies in our yard. And digging holes when he can’t find them.

You can see firsthand in this video – it’s a typical day in the life of Elvis Parsley.

As you can see, he’s a very busy dog. Very happy, but very busy.

And, as a result, he eats. A LOT. The dude loves his food.

“Did someone say ‘food’? Just checking.”

It’s important to us to feed him (and Hank) a food that has natural, real ingredients. So when Natural Balance asked me to let Elvis try its new Delectable Delights food, I was game. I found it at our local Petco, but it’s also available at PetSmart and other specialty pet stores.

Check it out – it’s like real chicken stew!

Natural Balance Delectable Delights can be fed as a full meal for smaller dogs or as an addition to dry food for big dogs like Elvis.

Of course, the big question is whether Elvis liked it.

“For me??”

Saying he loved it would be an understatement!

I mean, there’s not a speck of food left.

I’m so glad that we found Elvis. He’s a love – and there’s certainly never a dull moment with him!

Thanks, Sarah! They do that every once in a while, with mainly Elvis being the one to want to cuddle. And can I say that I LOVE, LOVE the name of your blog?!? Awesome!

Lucky boy to have found such a loving home! Thanks for adopting a black dog. For some reason, they are harder to adopt out. I like to say the black dogs go with everything 😉

I love that! I’ve never understood the whole anti-black-dog thing, but I know it exists. It’s funny, when I was envisioning what kind of dog we would adopt, a black lab was what always popped in my head. Guess it was meant to be! Thank you!!

There’s nothing like a happy dog! Or a happy dog mama! I never thought I’d be a dog lover because I didn’t grow up with one, but especially now that we have Carson I understand. He’s totally my baby!
